Jilly Cooper tells me she’s after a new dashing blond in his 30s to be cad Rupert Campbell-Black in the latest TV adaptation of her bonkbuster Riders.
He was played by handsome Marcus Gilbert in the 1993 version – but wheedling his way into the chat at a lunch for The Oldie magazine, Downton’s Hugh Bonneville, 59, quipped he might be suitable for it, joking that he’d have to get Jilly drunk to persuade her.

The glamorous doctor daughter of Queen drummer Roger Taylor has just completed a five-day, 60-mile trek across the Sahara in aid of breast cancer charity Coppafeel… and the hardest part wasn’t quite what you might expect.
GP Rory, 36, told me: ‘The most challenging part was trying to find the time to wear in my hiking boots in between work and life as a busy new mum, so I resorted to wearing them around the house and on nursery drop-offs.’
Safely back at home after contending with sandstorms, Rory says she was delighted to return to ‘a comfy bed and a bathroom’!
Meanwhile, her dad gave a generous £1,000 donation to the charity.

There was no lavish do for Chatty Dobson and Patrick Mavros Jnr after their society wedding – their first dance as newlyweds was on a double-decker bus driving through West London.
Patrick, heir to the Princess of Wales’s favourite jewellery business, dated yoga teacher Chatty for seven years, then they split for seven before rekindling their love and tying the knot at Chelsea Old Town Hall.
Chatty joked it was the most ‘un-eco-friendly wedding ever’, as guests flew in from Zimbabwe, Mauritius and California.
