A man has been arrested following a seizure of cocaine with a value of €56,000 in Galway on Sunday evening.
Gardaí seized the drugs during a search at a residence in the Castlepark area of the city yesterday.
The search was part of Operation Tara and undertaken by the Galway Divisional Drug Unit, aimed at clamping down on the activities of organised criminals in the region.
Cannabis worth €1,800 was also seized during the search, which happened at approximately 8.20 pm yesterday.
The drugs will now be sent of for analysis to Forensic Science Ireland.
The man aged in his 30s was arrested at the scene and is currently being held at a garda station in Galway.
Gardaí said investigations are ongoing.
