En una reciente declaración pública tras su citación ante la Fiscalía General de la Nación, Olmedo López, exdirector de la Unidad Nacional para la Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres (UNGRD), extendió una sentida disculpa al presidente Gustavo Petro y al pueblo colombiano por su involucramiento en un escándalo de corrupción que ha sacudido los cimientos de la entidad gubernamental.

Este incidente, relacionado con la adquisición de carrotanques defectuosos destinados a aliviar las necesidades hídricas de La Guajira, ha generado un amplio repudio por parte de la opinión pública y ha puesto en entredicho los esfuerzos de transparencia promovidos por el actual gobierno.

Olmedo López, quien lideró la UNGRD hasta febrero de este año, se ha visto en el ojo del huracán tras la revelación de que los vehículos cisterna adquiridos bajo su administración para el transporte de agua en la región de La Guajira, nunca cumplieron con su función.

Esta situación no solo ha representado un severo revés para los esfuerzos de mitigación de la sequía en la región, sino que también ha levantado serias interrogantes sobre la gestión y supervisión de los recursos destinados a la gestión del riesgo de desastres en Colombia.

“Debo pedirle perdón al señor presidente y a todos los colombianos. Reconozco que los hechos ocurridos bajo mi administración han sido lamentables y deplorables”, expresó López, agregando que “otro camino es el que nos ha demostrado el señor presidente en sus años de lucha en Colombia”, haciendo alusión al compromiso del mandatario con la transparencia y la integridad en la administración pública.

En su declaración, López también agradeció a la Fiscalía por el plan de seguridad que se le ha proporcionado, dada la magnitud del caso y las posibles repercusiones de su cooperación con la justicia.

De igual manera, envió un mensaje de reconocimiento a la Corte Suprema de Justicia, instando a que se mantenga la firmeza en el proceso judicial que se adelanta y asegurando su compromiso con revelar toda la verdad sobre las irregularidades durante su gestión.
