Plane skids off runway in Senegal, injuring 10 people, including pilot
A passenger plane skidded off the runway at Blaise Diagne International Airport in Senegal, injuring 10 people, including a pilot, Senegal’s transport minister said.
The HC301 Air Senegal flight to Bamako, Mali, which was operated by another local airline, Transair, was carrying 85 people, including two pilots and four crew members, El Malick Ndiaye said in a statement Thursday.
The plane was a Boeing 737, AP and Reuters reported.
Emergency services responded to the incident, which occurred at 1:14 a.m. on Thursday, and evacuated the passengers. Those who were hurt were taken to hospital, and others were taken to a hotel for “rest and proper care,” Ndiaye added.
Normal airport operations were set to resume Thursday morning, he said.
Moussa Ndiouck, a spokesman for Air Senegal, declined to comment on the incident when reached Thursday by The Washington Post. “We are awaiting feedback from the relevant services,” he said.
