Australia needs ‘other’ energy sources to ensure the economy keeps ‘going’
Resources Minister Madeleine King discusses the Albanese government’s new gas strategy.
The Labor government has announced its new gas strategy which backs gas usage beyond 2050.
“The number one principle I have set out in the future gas strategy is that Australia is committed to global emission reductions,” Ms King told Sky News Australia.
“There has to be a discussion, an assessment on how all energy sources fit within that journey to net zero by 2050.
“We will need other need other energy sources to make sure that we are keeping the economy going, that we give the consumers choice and access to affordable energy and heating.

“All sorts of industries, like producing fertilisers and farms, will need gas to power their operations until there is a solution.”
