ayodhya’s ram mandir may get soil from thailand | what’s the significance?

New Delhi: The Ram Temple in Ayodhya is nearing completion and the entire country is eagerly waiting for its grand opening in 2024. In a special gesture ahead of the inauguration of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, soil from Thailand will be sent to Ramjanmabhoomi.

The Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Ram Lalla will be held on January 22 next year. The several tent cities are being erected in Ayodhya to accommodate around 80,000 devotees who are expected to arrive in the temple town for the grand event.

“We have already sent water from two rivers of Thailand for Prabhu Shri Ram’s temple there. Now, we will send soil from here. Thailand has a deep cultural connection with India. It will only strengthen further. Govind Brij Maharaj has come here. We are going to hand over the soil to him to take it to Ayodhya,” Susheelkumar Saraff, president of the Thailand chapter of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), told News18.

Consecration of Ram Temple to be telecast live in Bangkok

Earlier, Swami Vigyanananand, founder and global chairman of World Hindu Foundation (WHF) and chief organiser of World Hindu Congress, had said the Ram Temple consecration ceremony will be telecast live in Bangkok.

He added that Hindus from across the globe will converge at the event, engaging in kirtans, bhajans, puja, and recitation.

Speaking to ANI, Swami Vigyanananand said, “We have ordered prasad (food offered to the deity) from Ayodhya. A replica of the Ayodhya temple has been built here. We have also brought an image of the birthplace of Ram Lalla from Ayodhya. Copies of the image will be shared with all the delegates (attending the conference). The festive ambience in Ayodhya ahead of the consecration of the Ram temple should be spread across the world.”

“Across the globe, wherever there is a Hindu temple or a thriving Hindu community, all the followers of our faith will participate in kirtans, bhajans, puja, and recitation at a specified time on January 22, next year. The devotees can catch the consecration live from Ayodhya on giant screens across the globe and also take part in a havan, puja and recitation wherever they are. We will experience this grand event together. Hindus worldwide will create a festive ambience in their own special ways and all religious people will immerse in celebrations,” Swami Vigyanananand added.

Did Lord Ram Visit Thailand?

Though it is believed that Lord Ram did not visit Thailand but the Ramayana has had a significant impact on various cultures in Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Laos.

In Thailand, the Thai version of the Ramayana is known as the Ramakien or Ramakirti. The story has been adapted and integrated into Thai art, literature, dance, theater, and even in the architecture of temples and palaces.

Moreover, Thailand’s respect for the story of Lord Ram is believed to have its roots in the shared culture between ancient India and Thailand. Hindu-Buddhist influence has been part of the religious landscape in Thailand since at least the 11th century.
