Fred Durst shocks fans with new look at Lollapalooza festival

Known for his backwards caps, tatts and unsavoury ‘flavour saver’ — Limp Bizkit’s frontman Fred Durst was known for his distinctive look at the peak of the band’s popularity in the late 90’s.

But fast forward to 2021 and the American rap-rocker is almost unrecognisable.

Fred Durst debuted his new look at the 2021 Lollapalooza festival on Saturday, taking fans by surprise.

The 50-year-old took to the stage in a retro get-up consisting of a brown zip-up jacket, orange shirt, grey pleated pants and black and white chequered shoes — all topped off with a handlebar moustache and a shock of grey hair.

His radical makeover is trending on Twitter — and his fans don’t hate it.

“If people don’t like Fred Durst’s new look, thy need to change their diapers,” tweeted Barstool Sports.

“Fred Durst rolling in to Lollapalooza with Dad pants and a grey wig doing cheesy dances and absolutely crushing like he’s 2021’s cool Uncle from 1999 is going to be my energy from here on,,” posted Sam Roberts.

While others made some pretty apt comments and comparisons.

“Fred Durst looks like the owner of the haunted record store Scooby and the gang investigate and find out it was him all along,” jomo tweeted.

“Fred Durst looks like he coached high school basketball for 23 years with a .386 winning percentage and now drinks coffee alone at 6:30 every morning at McDonald’s,” posted Super 70’s Sports.

Durst first teased his new look on his Instagram account, with a post captioned “thinking bout you 70”.

It’s the first time he has posted on the social media platform after deleting all of his posts.

Despite Durst’s new look, the band performed their old hits for the 100,000 strong crowd, including classics ‘Nookie’ and ‘Break Stuff’.

It just goes to prove Durst will keep rollin, rollin, rollin, no matter his age.
