La candidate israélienne Eden Golan s’est qualifiée jeudi 9 mai pour la finale de l’Eurovision, dans un contexte tendu.

Huées, manifestations, drapeaux bannis : malgré les contestations, Israël s’est qualifié pour la finale du concours de l’Eurovision. Les représentants de 26 pays s’affronteront ce samedi soir à Malmö, dans le sud de la Suède. « Hurricane », le titre israélien, a été interprété sans accroc ni interruption jeudi soir par Eden Golan devant les 9 000 spectateurs de la Malmö Arena, exaltés par la compétition. « Je pense que tout le monde est en sécurité », a répondu la chanteuse israélienne Eden Golan à un journaliste lui demandant si elle considérait que sa présence au concours de l’Eurovision mettait en danger les autres participants. « L’EBU (European Broadcasting Union, ndlr) prend toutes les précautions de sécurité pour que ce soit un lieu sûr et uni pour tout le monde. Donc je pense que tout le monde est en sécurité. Et nous ne viendrons ici pour aucune autre raison », a insisté la candidat israélienne lors d’une conférence de presse, après sa qualification pour la grande finale du concours.

Mais si dans la salle, tout n’est que néons, costumes scintillants et rythmes entraînants, à l’extérieur, la participation d’Israël fait grincer les dents, alors que les habitants de Gaza sont sous les bombes. De nombreuses personnes ont hué la chanteuse lors des répétitions la veille, appelant à « libérer la Palestine ». Près de 12 000 personnes ont manifesté jeudi dans la ville hôte contre la participation d’Israël au concours, exprimant leur indignation face à la guerre à Gaza. Un nouveau rassemblement est prévu samedi, jour de la finale.
