Arvind Kejriwal’s Wife Sunita Rejoices After SC Grants Him Interim Bail, Calls It ‘Victory Of Democracy’
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was granted interim bail by the Supreme Court on Friday. The interim bail will reportedly be in effect till June 1. Meanwhile, his wife Sunita responded to Kejriwal’s bail and said that her husband’s release on interim bail is the ‘victory of democracy’.
Describing it as the result of millions of prayers, she wrote on X, “Jai Hanuman ji. This is the victory of democracy. It is the result of the prayers and blessings of millions of people. Many thanks to everyone.”
The Aam Aadmi Party expressed joy at the Supreme Court’s decision to give Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal temporary release, claiming it is a victory for truth and will bolster the party’s campaign in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
Meanwhile, the AAP supremo has been asked by the apex court to surrender on June 2 following the end of his 21-day bail period. The order was passed by a division bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta.
Supreme Court makes it clear that grant of interim bail will not be treated as an expression of opinion on the merits of the case or the criminal appeal which is pending consideration before it.
Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 in connection with a money laundering case involving excise policies, and he has been housed in Tihar jail since April 1. The AAP national convener is expected to come out late Friday night after completing the necessary procedures, after the Supreme Court’s judgment granting him temporary bail until June 1, so he may campaign for the party.
