Tottenham striker Harry Kane
Simon Jordan has revealed that he has had a “conversation” with Daniel Levy and this has made him think Man Utd target Harry Kane will stay at Tottenham.
The England international is out of contract in 2024 so his future is in doubt heading into this summer’s transfer window.
Spurs endured a nightmare campaign in 2022/23 as they finished eighth in the Premier League. Kane’s form was still remarkable, though. He managed to score 30 goals in his 38 league appearances.
Man Utd are in the market for a world-class striker and Kane is understood to be Ten Hag’s favourite target.
Real Madrid have joined the race to sign Kane after Karim Benzema’s move to Saudia Arabia was finalised. The Spanish giants have also been linked with Chelsea’s Kai Havertz but they are now understood to be pursuing the Spurs standout.
Kane is about to enter the final year of his contract but Levy is known to be a stern negotiator and it has been indicated that the forward could cost as much as £100m this summer.
Jordan – Crystal Palace’s former owner – has now revealed that he’s “had a conversation” with Levy about Kane. He now thinks there is a “distinct possibility” that he will “stay” at Tottenham.
“I’ve always felt, and that’s because I’ve had a conversation with Daniel about it, that they believe there’s a distinct possibility he’ll stay,” Jordan said on talkSPORT.
“And of course it’s the background noise rumbling around it and other situations manifest themselves, like Benzema going out of Real Madrid and interest in Harry Kane stimulated by that departure. I think there’s a distinct possibility that he will stay.
“I just can’t get my head around the idea that Daniel will allow him to stay for a year and then let him go on a free. It flies in the face of everything that Daniel Levy does.”
Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos does not think Kane should “turn down the opportunity” to play for the La Liga giants.
“My advice to any player is don’t turn down the opportunity to play for Real Madrid – it is a special club who know how to win,” Ramos said.
“He (Kane) has an incredible physical presence – you can’t score as many goals as he does in the Premier League and not be able to play the physical side of the game.
“But also he can play the technical side of the game as well and I don’t think he gets enough credit for that. Yes he is a great goal scorer but also he is a great football player as well.”
