Germany, we love you.
Some cars are always exciting, even years after they have been revealed and all their secrets exposed. The Bugatti Chiron is one such machine, and although maintenance can be rather costly, all versions of the epic French hypercar are immensely popular among the wealthy. For those of us who don't have eight figures in our bank accounts, the closest we can get to experiencing these awesome machines is to watch others pushing their limits. The video below is one such opportunity for us, with the driver taking the Chiron to astonishing speeds on a public road. As you've probably guessed, it's the Autobahn.

The video starts by showing that the owner of this vehicle had attempted to achieve Vmax in his Bugatti Veyron on a few occasions earlier in the decade, finally achieving a world record speed of 402.5 kph (250 mph) in 2015, the highest speed ever recorded on a public highway. But now it's the turn of the Chiron. This was delivered to the owner back in 2018, but the speed test with this car was only conducted in July of this year. First, the car was sent back to Molsheim, France, for inspection, and after Bugatti determined that it was perfectly safe for high-speed use, the stars were aligned.

The attempt saw the 8.0-liter, quad-turbo, W16-powered engineering masterpiece achieve 414 kph or 257 mph. That's not far off the car's electronic limiter of 261 mph, and the fact that it was achieved by an ordinary individual rather than a racing driver, on a public road, and with a passenger shows just how brilliant this car is. The YouTuber will soon perform top speed tests of the Porsche 911 Turbo, Lamborghini Aventador, and Bentley Flying Spur, but this Bugatti run is surely the highlight.
Seeing hypercars that are built to the utmost level of performance being used as intended warms our hearts, and we hope more supercar owners follow this man's example and hoon their hypercars rather than hoard them.
