Veteran actress Farida Jalal is one of the much-loved stars in the industry. Her roles as a mother in iconic Bollywood films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Tarzan: The Wonder Car and other movies have been receiving praise from many. Did you know that there was a phase in the '90s when she was offered roles in a variety of projects, which turned out to be hits too, however, Fareeda said no to these films. Now, in an exclusive interaction with Zoom's Vickey Lalwani, the 75-year-old actress reveals she has 'no regrets' about turning down these films.

During a chat with us, Fareeda Jalal revealed she had turned down films during the initial phase of her career. The Aradhana actress stated," I have always said draw your lines and live within them your whole life. When I was a young girl, I used to be apprehensive that I would be doing wrong thing, these are wrong movements, wrong song, double meaning dialogues - so I was doing lesser work when I was young and really dying to go. Now, I'm looking forward to doing more work now because there are no dos or don'ts. In a mom's role, what would they make me do now?"

Farida Jalal On Why She Turned Down Some Films During Initial Days Of Her Career

Sharing more about rejecting films that had double-meaning dialogues because of the clothes they wanted her to wear and she didn't want to put them on. She replied, "Yes, I did less work than what I was supposed to do. I took a break of 7 8 years after I got married and a gap happened. When I came back to the mother's role and now a Dadi's role - So, I'm more comfortable as you can see. I was in practically every film. When I came back in Henna in the 90s. I feel like the 70s belong to me as it's the beginning of my career and the 90s belong to me as an artist. And I did lots of good work."

Speaking about films she had said no to and the movies went on to become hits, the actress said, "I wouldn't regret leaving something which I believed in I must not do."

Farida Jalal Reveals Her Mom Also Had A Say In Her Projects

On being asked if turning down these films was her decision or her mom's, Farida Jalal replied, " It was mine, and mom's also. Definitely, my mother also. I'm happy and proud of the fact that I lived by her terms."

When being probed if she wants to reveal the names of these films. She retorted with a smile, "No, I don't. It doesn't look nice. Some of them are not even alive."
