Disney World Closes a Popular Way to Watch a Beloved Show

Disney announces closure of a fan favorite elite experience.

Disney  (DIS) – Get Free Report theme parks renovations come with much planning, timing and pain. The theme parks each list their anticipated remodels, and maintenance schedules to help guests enjoy their time by helping set expectations. However, there is always that instance, or multiple instances, where maintenance needs to be done for the welfare of guests and staff that supersedes the planned schedule.

When guests plan travel to Disney they can check to see if a special attraction is going to be functioning while they are there, and that helps set the day-to-day itinerary for a lot of Disney guests.

Disney Closes Attraction for Refurbishment

Disney World is closing one of its elite attractions on March 30 until July 5, as the Magic Kingdom Park’s Ferrytale Fireworks dessert cruise will be unavailable for guests as Disney refurbishes the ferryboat that the cruise takes place on. This temporary closure may be devastating to some who love dessert so much that they would take an entire cruise to enjoy some delicate sweets; planned a special proposal to another Disney guest during the night of fireworks aboard the dessert cruise, or maybe had hopes of enjoying the fireworks with a dedicated place to sit back, watch and enjoy.

The Sparkling Dessert Cruise usually sets sail weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays on the Seven Seas Lagoon. The Disney Dessert Cruise takes every step it can to make the time spent magical. Guests are greeted as they board and handed a specialty drink. The rest of the cruise is spent enjoying delectable bite size sweets from KABOOM! Cupcakes, Rocket Burst Popcorn Pushups, Red Velvet Wow! Pie, Grande Finale Key Lime Tarts, among others. Beverages are served with or without alcohol.

While the adults are enjoying a little sparkling taste of heaven, children can take part in an ultraviolet scavenger hunt using blacklights. The whole attraction comes to an intense ending with fireworks going up over the night sky above the cruise. Guests are invited to use “Mickey Vision” glasses to create an even more unique viewing experience.

To enjoy this Ferrytale Fireworks Dessert Cruise, reservations are highly recommended and will likely be harder to get once the cruise reopens this summer. The ticket pricing is currently: $99 for adults and $69 for children 3-9 years old, pricing includes a memorable giveaway. Since weather can also dictate whether or not the cruise sets sail and or if the fireworks take place, being able to take part in this limited sparkling attraction may be harder to come by that one would think.

Disney Cruise Back in Action

Magic Kingdom’s Ferrytale Fireworks Dessert Cruise is expected to reopen on July 5. Since the dessert cruise only runs twice a week, it could be done, sooner, but perhaps due to the Fourth of July holiday, it might not be opening to guests until after, since that is the first Wednesday after the holiday.

The timeline is of course dependent on weather among other things that could hold up the reopening after the refurbishments. If guests are making plans to attend this elite evening experience, they should try to plan ahead enough to not only make reservations, but possibly check the weather and to make sure that it appears that the reopening of the cruise are still on schedule.

The dessert cruise usually runs for 90 minutes and departs the dock 50 minutes before the fireworks show will start on select available nights. Reservations are usually open a couple months in advance, but due to the refurbishment, no reservations are being taken, and may not be available until a firm reopening date is set.
