'stopped russia-ukraine war, but paper leak...': rahul gandhi's jibe at pm modi over neet controversy

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that he "had stopped Russia-Ukraine war, Israel-Gaza war. But here in India, he didn't stop paper leak".

While addressing a press conference on the paper leak issue, Rahul Gandhi said, "During Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, we went from Manipur to Maharashtra. Thousands of youth had complained about paper leak. Now you all know that NEET and NET papers got leak and one of them has got cancelled. It was being said that Narendra Modi had stopped Russia-Ukraine war, Israel-Gaza war. But here in India, he didn't stop paper leak

Questioning the silence of PM Modi, he said, "Silence is because PM is crippled. His main agenda is Speaker. He is not bothering about NEET. He is psychologically broken. He will struggle to run a govt like this. His idea to run govt is to create fear. Now people are not scared of him."

Further highlighting the scams around paper leaks, he said, "It is about the future of this country. In MP, we saw vyapam. Now Narendra Modi and his govt want to spread this scam all across the country. Paper leak is happening because VCs/institutions have been captured by BJP and its parental organisation. It has been facilitated by Narendra Modi and it is an anti-national activity."

Targeting National Testing Agency (NTA), he said, "There are many honest people in our country. Responsibilities should be given to such people. If you will choose people on ideological basis then surely such irregularities will be reported."

What Is The NEET Controversy

A massive row erupted after the NEET exam, taken by 2.4 million students on May 5, faced allegations of a paper leak shortly after the results were declared on June 4. As many as 67 students had achieved perfect scores of 720/720 and grace marks had been given to some students allegedly to compensate for time lost at exam centres.

The NTA had informed the Supreme Court last week that the grace marks awarded to 1,563 candidates in the NEET-UG exam would be rescinded and these candidates will be given the option to retake the exam on June 23. The results of this re-test are to be declared before June 30. If any candidate opts out of the re-test, their original scores, minus the extra marks, will be reinstated.
