Ashika Ranganath to play the female lead in Karthi's 'Sardar 2'

Actor Karthi's film 'Sardar' helmed by PS Mithran was a blockbuster in 2021 and the spy thriller has a second part and the pre-production of the film is underway. Following the success of 'Sardar' that made more than Rs 100 crore at the box office, the makers announced the sequel and it will soon go on floors.

The new buzz is that the second part of the film will star actress Ashika Ranganath as the female lead, Glitz reported. The filmmakers are yet to announce the final cast and crew of the film and the official announcement is awaited. The sequel is based on drug deals, drug usage and exploitation and the movie will be different from the first part of the film that focussed on water based issues and the business that gain through mineral water packaging.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Karthi who was last seen in his 25th film 'Japan' has two films that are awaiting its release. The actor's 'Mei Azhagan' with director Prem Kumar has been wrapped up and it is currently in post production. The film is an emotional family drama, and the cast includes Karthi, Aravind Swamy, Swathi Konde, and Sri Divya in lead roles. The film's music is composed by Govind Vasanth. The filmmakers are yet to reveal the release plan of the movie.

Karthi is also shooting for 'Va Vaathiyare' with Nalan Kumarasamy and the film is said to be wrapped up by June. The movie stars Karthi, Krithi Shetty, Sathyaraj and Anandraj in lead roles. The film revolves around a young man who is an ardent MGR fan. Following this, the actor will start with his work for 'Sardar 2' and in the pipeline he has 'Kaithi 2' with Lokesh Kanagraj and a few more projects lined up with Mari Selvaraj and Tamizh - that are awaiting its official announcements.
