The residents gathered at the lawmaker's home, which was invaded by protesters during demonstrations against the Finance Bill 2024.

Kimani, the National Assembly Finance Committee Chairperson, was not present during the prayer session.

Addressing the media, Bishop David Njoroge of Neema Lema Church said they were sorry for the incident at the MP's residence.

Njoroge condemned the youths involved in the attack, stating that Kimani was undertaking his constitutional mandate.

“We are here to first express our sorry for what happened in this place. The MP was fulfilling his constitutional duties, and the matters he spoke about were significant as our government heard the cries of all our people. We condemn the actions of our youth as they are venting their frustrations on an individual.

We, as the pastors of Molo, completely condemn it and say it is not good. We want to tell the youth that work will not come through violence; it will come by respecting the government and doing what is necessary," Njoroge said.

What was destroyed in Kimani's compound

The lawmaker is counting losses valued at millions of shillings after his property was torched and looted by the protesters.

Kimani's two vehicles were reduced to ashes, while his pricy Ford Ranger was damaged after its windscreen was smashed.

Police have so far arrested four people for their alleged involvement in the vandalism and arson attack.

Meanwhile, at least 10 members of a multi-agency security force have been deployed to guard the MP’s residence during the day and 20 at night.
