This comes after the historic protests that led to the withdrawal of Finance Bill 2024. President Ruto spoke during an interview with a group of journalists at State House on Sunday, June 30.
"I promised to engage the young people and even highlighted the topics that needed to be discussed, including debt, taxation, unemployment, and corruption. I heard them say that they do not want a multisectoral forum and instead prefer an engagement on X, and I'm open to it. As long as they are comfortable," he promised.
"I have young people in my house and what they want is is engagement," he went on.
When questioned about his frequent promises that have upset some Kenyans for their perceived lack of results, the president explained that he made these promises along with a specific timeline to effectively engage the youth and deliver to the country.
"I gave a timeframe of one week and from there, we shall agree on where to meet. I am ready to engage them on X spaces if that is comfortable with them," he added.
