After spending nearly six hours in police custody, the former lawmaker spoke out against the excessive force used during his arrest.
"Some of us are pronounced as anti-finance bill and that is the position. Don't use intimidation to silence us so that you perpetuate what you want to do with it," he said.
Keter's wife heartbroken after husband's abduction
Joanne Keter, his wife, was devastated when armed men ambushed them, taking him away by force and leaving the family helpless, crying out for assistance, according to the footage shared.
"The people who came to abduct him were men. You people are fathers. God will avenge this for me because whatever you have left in the hearts of our children, it is only God who will avenge me. They kept on asking about their father's whereabouts. May God punish you for me," she cried.
DCI dismisses claims of Alfred Keter's abduction
The DCI team dismissed the abduction claims, stating that the ex-MP was arrested for conspiracy and incitement to violence. Keter dismissed this, asserting that his arrest was linked to his opposition to the finance bill.
"This is to confirm that Hon Keter was arrested earlier today by NPS Officers for conspiracy to traffic firearms and incitement to violence.
He was booked at Kamukunji Police Station and later released pending Forensic Analysis of exhibits. Thereafter, the file will be forwarded to the ODPP for direction," read the DCI statement in part.
President William Ruto echoed the sentiments during his media interview at State House, stating that he had defied numerous police summons.
