'indisciplined and careless': pcb likely to take strict action against pakistan team post bizarre wc incident

Babar Azam-led Pakistan Cricket Team had a very horrid T20 World Cup, a campaign that they'll like to forget soon. Pakistan were eliminated from the Group Stage and will now have to play the qualifiers next year to participate in the 10th edition of the T20 World Cup which will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka in 2026. Pakistan faced an unexpected loss to the USA team in the group stage round of the ongoing T20 World Cup and that derailed their campaign.

What raised many eyebrows is the fact that amid all their dismal performances in the T20 World Cup, the Pakistan players attended a meet and greet event and reportedly charged money for the same. A news report published in the 'Jang' newspaper states that the players from Pakistan charged fee as low as USD 2500 per person to attend a meet-and-greet function. Things did not spot here, the Pakistan players were also all set to attend another event called 'A night with stars'. The event was called off because there was some pay disparity issue with regards to the Pakistan skipper Babar Azam.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will analyze all of it following their shameful World Cup exit and their embarrassing loss to arch-rivals and neighbours India. Few reports also stated that the Pakistan Cricket Board is mulling over ideas to demote Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan from their Grade A status. This decision was also criticized by former Pakistan cricketer and ex-PCB chief Ramiz Raja.

'It is now becoming clear that if the players are today an indisciplined and careless lot, the blame for this falls on some of the senior management officials who have been patronizing them in many ways including in the finalization of the central contracts last year. The fact that so many players not only took their wives and children to the World Cup even had their parents, brothers etc. staying in the team hotel has left the chairman unhappy', said a source close to the PCB.

The source also that that PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi is extremely unhappy with the performance of not only the players but senior officials and he held them equally responsible for the current condition of the side. As complicated as things are in the PCB, they board has had our chairmen since December 2022.
