IND-W vs SA-W, One-Off Test Day 2 Live Scorecard and Updates: India vs South Africa
India Women vs South Africa Women LIVE Score, One-off Test Day 2: Hello and welcome to the action of Day 2 between India and South Africa.
Looking at this series, South Africa Women have not been at their best in the field and with the ball so far. Apart from the first 10 overs, it was all India throughout the day. They tried to build some momentum but once the ball got old, South Africa Women got hammering from India in all the sessions. They took two wickets each in the last two sessions but overall it was really an ordinary bowling performance from South Africa. Even a lot of misfields and boundary balls didn’t help them along the way. South Africa Women now have to hope that they start well on Day 2 and restrict India under 650 if possible before they start climbing the mountain. That is it for today. Join us on Day 2 at 9.30 am IST (4 am GMT) and earlier for the build up. Till then, cheers!
Smriti Mandhana says she is happy how the day went. Credits the way Shafali Verma played and says it is a pleasure to see her play from the other end. Admits it is a remarkable achievement to get more than 500 runs. Tells the talk with Verma was to take on the bowlers, she took the seamers on and Verma targetted the spinners. Feels she is not sure about the target if it has ever happened in women’s cricket. Ends by saying the pitch started to turn a bit in the last hour.
An excellent way to begin the Test match. The hosts would be the happier side at the end of the day’s play. Harmanpreet Kaur didn’t hesitate as she chose to bat first and the openers didn’t let the skipper down as the duo, Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana added 292 runs. Smriti Mandhana scored her third century in the last four international matches while Shafali Verma went onto score a century too. Verma though continued her merry way and converted it into double as her partner, Smriti Mandhana fell just one short of 150. Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma then added 86 runs before Verma was run out just after her double ton. Right now, India have Kaur and Ghosh in their 40s. India are in top position and one would say they have enough on the board but they’ll try and tire out the visitors under scorching heat on Day 2 and look for a score around 650.
