Bryson DeChambeau shows true colours after making key LIV Golf decision days after US Open win

Ever the competitor, Bryson DeChambeau has committed to play in this week's LIV Golf event in Nashville just days after being crowned U.S. Open champion at Pinehurst No. 2.

DeChambeau banked the second major title of his career last Sunday, seeing off Rory McIlroy in a final round for the ages in North Carolina. In the aftermath, there is no doubt the American enjoyed his celebrations, parading his title across the 18th green and into the crowd as the sun set on the golf course.

The former PGA Tour star was also seen still on site late into the night, signing autographs from fans, before leaving with a beaming smile - and of course the U.S. Open trophy in hand.

He was later seen still hitting balls during his afterparty with friends, after the big-hitting star was seen crushing glow-in-the-dark golf balls with his driver in the pitch-black, whilst admitting he was still 'pretty drunk' The party continue at Trump National Golf Club Westchester in New York, where he was seen drinking wine from the iconic trophy on celebration.

It is back to business for the major champion just days later, with DeChambeau committing to competing at LIV Nashville this week, with the 54-hole tournament getting underway on Friday. The Crushers captain completed a whole host of media duties on Monday, and opened up on what his celebrations entailed.

Appearing on the Pat McAfee Show, DeChambeau said: "I’m a little wrecked, I can tell you that... It was a lot of fun last night, and the fans were all part of that win. Throughout the whole week, they were cheering me on, pushing me, encouraging me, and giving me all the stuff I needed to win.

Bryson DeChambeau enjoyed his celebrations

"So I thought, what better moment than to show the fans all that they deserve? It just all happened. Fans were still waiting for me. They shut down the golf course. I probably left Pinehurst around 12:30 last night, and it was a great time.” This will all soon be a thing of the past when he arrives in Nashville though.

DeChambeau will be looking to follow up his U.S. Open triumph with his third win on the LIV setup, and his first of the 2024 campaign. The 30-year-old currently finds himself 15th in the individual LIV standings, with his best performance a fourth-place finish in Jeddah in March.

The American's Crushers franchise meanwhile have been the team to catch, leading the way in the team standings after eight events. The 2023 champions have two team titles to their name so far this season, having banked back-to-back titles in Jeddah and Hong Kong earlier in the campaign. Jon Rahm's newly-formed Legion XIII trail just behind in second, with Joaquin Niemann's Torque GC in third.
