‘Committed to strengthen India-US strategic partnership for global good’: PM Modi meets NSA Jake Sullivan
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met with US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in Delhi, in what was the first visit by a senior American official after he was re-elected for a third time. During the meeting, Modi reaffirmed his commitment to strengthen Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
"Met US National Security Advisor @JakeSullivan46. India is committed to further strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership for global good," PM Modi posted on X.
Sullivan briefed Modi on the progress in various areas of bilateral cooperation, especially under the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET), according to a press release shared by the PMO.
This included talks on semiconductors, Artificial Intelligence, telecom, defence, critical minerals and space.
The Prime Minister also expressed his satisfaction at the speed and scale of the bilateral partnership between the India and the US in all areas, as well as their convergence of views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, the release stated.
Before calling on PM Modi, Sullivan, who is on a two-day official visit to India beginning Monday, also met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and NSA Ajit Doval.
“Delighted to welcome US NSA @JakeSullivan46 in New Delhi today morning. A comprehensive discussion on a broad range of bilateral, regional and global issues. Confident that India-US strategic partnership will continue to advance strongly in our new term,” Jaishankar said in a post on X.
Both Doval and Sullivan held wide-ranging talks on the implementation of iCET, and the global and regional issues of mutual interest for India and US.
After the launch of the iCET by PM Modi and US President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the Quad Summit in Tokyo on May 24, 2022, the two top security officials have made a concerted effort to engage in identified areas of collaboration in diverse domains of emerging technologies.
