Former Pakistan cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq has pointed out that the top five players in Pakistan's batting lineup are all openers and the lack of a proper middle order batter badly hurt at the 2024 T20 World Cup. Babar Azam and his men finished third in Group A, losing their first two games to hosts United States of America and arch-rivals India.
Inzamam explained how the top five batters in the Pakistan lineup were all openers and was disappointed to see no specialist middle-order picked for the particular role. Repeated batting failures ensured that Pakistan had yet another early exit from an ICC event.
In the first match against USA, Pakistan posted 159/7 batting first but USA chased that down and Babar and his team eventually lost in the Super Over. Against India, while chasing a paltry 120 and needing 48 runs off as many balls at one point, they lost track of the chase and could manage 113.

There is no middle order. Its shameful that there is no middle order batter whom we can select)," Inzamam said while speaking on his YouTube channel.
Inzamam spoke about players who didn't bowl much despite being picked as a bowler, without naming them. Notably, spinner Abrar Ahmed didn't play a single match for Pakistan in the tournament.
Inzamam requested the Pakistan Cricket Board to choose players who weren't up to the mark in the T20 World Cup and make them play domestic cricket and then prove themselves to ensure selection into the national team.
