New Delhi: In a significant development for India's defence sector, the French multinational company Thales Group has entered into an agreement with Adani Defence to locally produce 70mm rockets. These rockets are a crucial component of India's indigenous attack helicopters, HAL Rudra and Prachand.

The collaboration aims to bolster India's self-reliance in defence production, aligning with the government's "Make in India" initiative. This strategic move is expected to enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces by ensuring a steady and reliable supply of advanced rockets.

Thales Group, renowned for its cutting-edge technology and innovation in aerospace, defence, and security, brings its expertise to the table, while Adani Defence contributes its extensive experience in local manufacturing and infrastructure. This partnership is poised to create a robust production ecosystem in India, reducing dependency on imports and fostering technological advancements within the country.

The 70mm rockets produced under this agreement will be utilized by HAL Rudra and Prachand helicopters, both of which are integral to India's military operations. The HAL Rudra is a weaponized version of the Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), equipped with an array of armaments including air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles, rockets, and cannons. Similarly, the HAL Prachand, also known as the Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), is designed for high-altitude warfare, and is equipped with advanced weaponry systems to perform a variety of missions.

The local production of these rockets is expected to not only meet the current requirements of the Indian Armed Forces but also cater to future needs, ensuring sustained operational readiness. Furthermore, this collaboration is likely to generate employment opportunities and contribute to the growth of India's defence manufacturing sector.

In conclusion, the agreement between Thales Group and Adani Defence marks a significant milestone in India's journey towards self-reliance in defence production. By leveraging advanced technology and local manufacturing capabilities, this partnership is set to strengthen India's defence infrastructure and enhance its strategic capabilities.
