Millicent Omanga Clarifies after Being Linked with KSh 1b State House Tender

  • Reports had earlier suggested that Millicent Omanga was cashing in handsomely through government tenders
  • She was alleged to have secured a KSh 1 billion tender to supply the state house in Nairobi with furniture
  • Omanga, however, refuted the assertion, clarifying that she resorted to private business undertakings which are parallel to the government

Former nominated Senator Millicent Omanga refutes the assertion she has been doing business with the national government.

Reports earlier indicated that the politician had secured a billion shilling tender from State House, Nairobi.

What tender did Omanga reportedly win?

She was apparently tasked with supplying the house on the hill with high-end furniture.

This belief thrust Omanga into discourses online, with the government's naysayers blaming it for misusing monies on such expenses believed to be worthless.

Coming out to clear the air, she clarified that he had never benefitted from the government despite being President William Ruto's stalwart.

She said she has never transacted any gainful business with the state.

"I need to clear a misconception. I, Millicent Omanga, neither work for the government of Kenya nor am I a tenderpreneuer in this government. I'm a private person doing private business. Isitoshe, I've never benefited from this government either in cash or kind. Wanted to make this clear!" she posted on social media.

She revealed her plans to institute legal suits against the purveyors of the claims.

"I am in the process of suing whoever came up with the malicious allegations to table evidence or apologise," she said.

Omanga had been designated the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) post in the Interior docket before the High Court blocked the appointments terming them as unconstitutional.

Omanga's new Range Rover Vogue

Despite being confined to the political cold after flunking the 2022 elections, the politician seems not to be someone suffering in the corner far from political power.

She recently flaunted a new Range Rover vogue while at a city garage, uploading the photos to her X (previously Twitter) account.

The aesthetics and the likelihood of it being turbo-engine pointed to a pricey SUV that would cost many tens of millions of shillings.

CCP lists the model in the neighbourhood of KSh 15 million.

Omanga's display opened a floodgate of scrutiny as the observant quarters questioned the source of the millions she used to buy the car.

The Doubting Thomases argue she has been jobless since the August 2022 elections, in which she was routed in the Nairobi woman representative race, and thus had no salary to finance the purchase.
