Awaziem donates kits to Jos community
Nigeria defender Chidozie Awaziem over the weekend distributed balls, jerseys, and boots to players in his Jos community, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Where it all started, it feels good to be back home and encourage the young ones—lots of talented players.
Born in Enugu, the Boavista player spent some of his formative years in Jos before starting his youth career with El-Kanemi Warriors in 2011.
Like most foreign-based players do at the end of each season, the 27-year-old was involved in a kick-about with players from the community on the barren turf, where he honed some of his football skills as a child.
He expressed his delight in a statement on Instagram, along with pictures of him sharing the kit.
“Where it all started, it feels good to be back home and encourage the young ones—lots of talented players,” wrote the 27-year-old.
Awaziem has every reason to give back to the community that served as a launching pad for his illustrious career, which has seen him also play for Porto, Nantes, Çaykur Rizespor, Leganés, Alanyaspor, and Hajduk Split.
He has also made his name count internationally, having been capped 30 times by Nigeria since making his Super Eagles debut in 2017.
