A Kenya Prisons warden, Shakur has been vocal about his opposition to the Finance Bill 2024 and the much-publicised police mission in Haiti.

Shakur's family can breathe a sigh of relief after he was found on Monday, July 1, in the evening after three days.

On a regular day, one would be forgiven for assuming Shakur was not in the National Police Service as he protested against the government.

His daring actions have earned him numerous warnings online from Kenyans who feared he might put himself in danger.

How did Shakur disappear

Shakur's disappearance got national attention after his lawyer and family raised the alarm about his whereabouts.

His lawyer, Benjamin Njeru Wa Muthoni, said his troubles started after he was seen holding up multiple #RejectFinanceBill2024 banners in pictures shared on his social media accounts.

Njeru revealed that when individuals posing as Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) agents visited his home in search of him, they only discovered his spouse.

"At some point DCI officers visited his home and asked for his whereabouts. All this time, he had never been charged with anything or summoned, so due to the reasonable apprehension he held on his safety, he went into hiding," he said.

Shakur's struggles for safety

Njeru advised the 25-year-old officer to report his troubles at the nearest police station, but he opted to get an anticipatory bail first.

The father of two was also suspicious about calls he was receiving while claiming that he was being trailed.

His friends and family ruled out that he was in hiding as they revealed that he maintained close communication with them during the period.

They filed a missing person's report at the Kiamumbi Police Station amid claims that the police were holding him incommunicado.

Alfred Keter released from police custody

In another story, former Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter was abducted by three civilian men in a white car, Reg. No. KBE 256H, but later released.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino condemned the abduction and accused the government of intimidating opposers of its regime.

According to the footage capturing the moment, Keter's children and wife shouted helplessly as they watched him being carried away.

• Opposition blogger Gabriel Oguda was allegedly abducted because of his criticism of the Finance Bill 2024.
