How will Eric Omondi help protester?

In an Instagram post, Omondi drew his followers' attention to the bedridden boy's plight, saying his life needs to be changed for standing up against the Bill.

Omondi shared a snippet of a Citizen TV interview where the boy - Frank Okoth - revealed he was shot in the chest and abdomen while protesting against unemployment, corruption and bad governance.

"This guy was shot six times, six times! They planned to finish him but we will change his life totally. If you know him, please DM me or comment with his number," Omondi captioned the video.

In the video, Okoth, an orphan raised by his grandmother, said his situation was dire.

"I am bedridden and can't even turn. I have no regrets - we had to go to the protests and must continue until we get our rights".

Okoth's grandmother said she has only raised KSh500.

"I do not have even a single shilling. I have a donation book that I walk around with."

Concerned netizens praised Omondi for rushing to Okoth's aid but drew attention to millions of cash raised in aid of hospitalised victims.

@paulinenzisa:

"He marched forward while some of us were behind him. Let's support him and change his life forever."

@sir_sk_ke:

"I will borrow money to help him. He was fighting for my rights."

@bikes_accessories:

"Erick, reach Hanifa. Let some of the KSh 29 million contributed towards injured victims sort out this guy."

@obeddennis:

"This dude is our living hero. We must celebrate him. Let's do this, master Ericoh."

@tongo_fit_club:

"He's from my hood, and it's unfortunate; they can't even get food.”

How much was contributed for anti-Finance Bill casualties?

Well-wishers have contributed over KSh 29 million in aid of those injured or killed during the anti-Finance Bill protests.

Raised via the online fundraising platform M-Changa, the donations had a target of KSh 10 million but exceeded its goal following overwhelming support.

According to M-Changa, all donations will go directly to recipient hospitals and clinics treating those injured or hospitalised during the protests.

M-Changa added that activist Hanifa will share receipts for all payments.
