African Swine Fever Found in Pig Carcass on Kinmen Beach - TaiwanPlus News
For the first time this year, African swine fever has been detected in Taiwan. A pig carcass found on a beach in the outlying German islands returned a positive test for the virus. The infected pig was incinerated and inspections and nearby pig farms passed all checks. The Agriculture Ministry will stop shipment support from the islands for one week in line with regulations. African swine fever is not dangerous to humans but can be highly deadly to pick populations. Pork is one of Taiwan's biggest domestic livestock industries.
