Skincare brand combats counterfeiting with new products
Dr Teal, a personal care brand that produces bath and other skincare products, has reiterated its commitment to quality, as it revealed its efforts to combat counterfeiting in the country.
Speaking at a media parley during the week, the International Director, PDC Brands, the parent company of the brand, David Schneider, stated that the brand needed to relaunch in Nigeria as a way of reassuring its customers that it was determined to protect their interests following the wave of counterfeiting in the personal care brand industry.
Schneider said, “We are 200 per cent committed to fighting counterfeit in the market, and as such, we are working closely with regulatory councils in Nigeria. I praise the efforts of NAFDAC and the Nigeria Police Force in taking strong actions.
“We have been investing and taking actions. We have been going after counterfeiters, and we are in the first phase of this big fight. We have just started the journey, and we are uncovering the scale of counterfeit problems here.”
The brand’s Strategic Manager, Vivienne Odonfi-Daniel, added, “We have always believed wellness should play a part in people’s everyday lives. We have dedicated ourselves to bringing out the best in everybody naturally.”
She added that the relaunch comes after the brand’s recent partnership with NAFDAC to raid counterfeiting factories and distribution stores in major locations in Lagos and other cities.
