Euro 2024: ‘What an opportunity’ – Rio Ferdinand rates England’s chances of reaching final
Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand believes the Three Lions of England have the ‘best chance’ of reaching the final of the Euro 2024 than any other team.
Ferdinand described England’s remaining run of fixtures as an ‘opportunity’, for them to get to the final of the European Championship this year.
Gareth Southgate’s side will face Slovakia in the Round of 16 on Sunday evening.
They will face Switzerland in the last-8 if they defeat Slovakia.
However, if England are able to get past Switzerland in the quarter-final, they will face The Netherlands, Austria, Turkey or Romania in the semifinals.
“I have to say, if I was in the England squad now, and the draw came out like this, I wouldn’t be able to sleep with the excitement I’d have,” Ferdinand told the BBC.
“I’d be respecting all the other teams, yes. But to look at the other side of the draw and look at our side… Oh my.
“We have got the chance – the best chance – to get to a final. What an opportunity.”
