Hail in Central Taiwan Damages Crops Valued Over US$3 Million - TaiwanPlus News

Hail in central Taiwan has destroyed nearly 100 hectares of crops and cost losses of more than three million U.S. dollars. Heavy rain and hail the size of small coins tore through vegetables ripe for the harvest. The crops include cabbage, garlic sprouts and spinach. The storms in Nantou County are a result of atmospheric convection as the country enters the monsoon season. Agriculture officials say they'll assess the damage and subsidized farmers for their losses.
