Zelenskyy: Shells from Czech initiative strengthen Ukrainian defenders on battlefield

zelenskyy: shells from czech initiative strengthen ukrainian defenders on battlefield

The shells that Ukraine has begun receiving as part of the Czech initiative are already strengthening its defenders on the battlefield, according to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to the President, he held talks with Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala during his visit to Brussels. The leaders discussed munitions for Ukraine, as well as Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

"I highlighted the importance of the Czech initiative to procure necessary artillery shells for Ukraine. They are already strengthening our warriors on the battlefield," Zelenskyy said.

According to the Presidential Office, the President of Ukraine and the Czech Prime Minister discussed the further implementation of the shell initiative and efforts to ensure that the amount of ammunition "matches the capabilities of the Russian occupiers."

He added that he and Fiala discussed preparations for the signing of a security agreement and the results of the first Peace Summit.

Shells for Ukraine

A few months ago, Czechia organized an initiative to purchase shells for Ukraine. A large number of Western countries provided funds for this purpose.

On June 25, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala announced that the first batch of ammunition had arrived in Ukraine as part of his country's initiative.

Yesterday, June 26, a source in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine told RBC-Ukraine that the difference in the number of shots between Ukraine and Russia had decreased by more than half.
