Ukraine gains access to EUR 50 million of Spanish state recovery funds

Ukraine has gained access to Spanish state recovery funds amounting to €50 million. Kyiv also received an additional €1 million grant to support the resilience of Ukraine's private sector and €4.6 million for humanitarian demining needs, according to the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.

The announcement was made during the fourth meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Spanish Commission on Economic and Industrial Cooperation, co-chaired by Ukraine's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yuliia Svyrydenko and Spain's Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry Carlos Cuerpo Caballero.

"We are grateful to Spain for its unwavering support of Ukraine and assistance – from humanitarian to military. In particular, for the decision announced in May to allocate EUR 1 billion to support our defense capabilities. One of the priorities in cooperation with Spain is the energy sector, which remains one of the key targets of russian attacks," said Svyrydenko.

She added that Ukraine is thankful to Spain for providing generators and energy equipment, as well as for their financial contribution of over €4.5 million to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine.

Spain's assistance to Ukraine

Since the onset of Russia's brutal aggression against Ukraine, Spain has emerged as a key partner, providing significant assistance to the Ukrainian people. This support spans military, humanitarian, and financial domains.

Specifically, Spain has provided Ukraine with €600 million in military aid, including weapons, ammunition, communication and intelligence equipment, and medical supplies.

Spain has also welcomed over 150,000 Ukrainian refugees, offering them housing, food, medical care, and other necessary services.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently said that to protect Ukraine from Russian attacks, Spain will provide additional air defense systems.
