Another country joins Peace Summit communique - Zelenskyy

The Kingdom of Tonga has joined the Peace Summit communique regarding Ukraine, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Twitter (X).

"I appreciate the Kingdom of Tonga becoming the ninth participant to sign the joint communique following the first Peace Summit. We can see that the principles outlined in this historic document are shared by countries from all over the world. We value Tonga's commitment to them," wrote Zelenskyy.

He emphasized that Ukraine is making every effort "so that no one falls behind in global efforts to restore the full force of the UN Charter."

"Every peace-loving nation’s voice must be heard. The goals of achieving a just and lasting peace for Ukraine and resorting respect for international law are in the best interests of all states, including island states in Oceania," the president noted.

Peace Summit

On June 15-16, the first Global Peace Summit dedicated to Ukraine took place in Switzerland. Representatives from 100 countries and organizations participated.

Following the Summit, participants signed a final communique.

The document includes provisions such as Ukraine's necessary control over the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and the exchange of prisoners by all parties.

Recently, Andrii Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, announced that Ukraine expects to host a second Peace Summit in Saudi Arabia by the end of the year.
