Gulbadin Naib, Afghanistan's all-rounder, was involved in a controversial moment during the T20 World Cup match against Bangladesh on Tuesday.

Naib's antics after a 'supposed' hamstring injury while fielding at slips occurred right after coach Jonathan Trott had sent in a message to the players to slow things down. Afghanistan were two runs ahead of the DLS score at that stage

However, skipper Rashid Khan was perplexed as he kept asking the all-rounder what had happened. Naib was even seen limping off the field. On-air commentator Simon Doull was unhappy with what had transpired and slammed the Afghanistan all-rounder.

"The coach sends a message out to say Slow it down, Slow it down and the first slip just dives on the ground needlessly. That is unacceptable. Gone off anyway. I get that might have gone off anyway for the rain," said Doull.

Naib returned to the field shortly after and even bowled the 15th over.

This episode sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with India off-spinner R Ashwin hilariously calling for a red card.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan qualified for the semifinals of the T20 World Cup after beating Bangladesh by eight runs in the rain-hit final Super 8 game here.

In a must-win match that saw frequent rain interruptions, Afghanistan scored 115 for 5 in their 20 overs and then returned to bowl out Bangladesh for 105 in 17.5 overs. Due to inclement weather, the match was truncated to 19 overs a side, and Bangladesh was given a revised target of 114.

The result knocked out former champions Australia, whose slim hopes were hinging on Bangladesh winning this game. Afghanistan will take on South Africa in the semifinals on June 27.
