'Kalki 2898 AD' starcast and their approximate pay package
'Kalki 2898 AD' has been released in theaters, and the film is turning out to be one of the blockbusters of 2024. The movie is said to gross Rs 200 crore on day 1 of its opening worldwide, as the mythological science fiction is being critically acclaimed.
The film was made with a budget of Rs 600 crore with grand visualisation, and now News 18 reports have claimed that the cast remuneration amounts to a huge amount on its own. The news reports stated that Prabhas was charged a fee of Rs 80 crore for his role as Bhairavaa in the film, and the rest of the star cast, including Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, were paid an equal sum of Rs 20 crore each.
Jargon reported that actor Prabhas most often charges Rs 150 crore as his remuneration, but with 'Kalki 2898 AD', the actor cut his fee in half and only worked for a remuneration of Rs 80 crore.
The film had a massive opening as it sold more than 19 lakh tickets in India, and it is expected to shatter world records by becoming the first Indian film to gross Rs 200 crore on day 1 of its release. Prabhas' previous film 'Salaar' started off with Rs 175 crore on day 1, and this film is expected to surpass that.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film is set in the post-apocalyptic world of the futuristic era, where the supreme power Yaskin tries to stop the birth of Kalki, Lord Vishnu's 10th avatar. While Bhairavaa, played by Prabhas, tracks down Sum-80 (Deepika Padukone) to kill her baby in the womb, she is protected by the immortal Ashwathama (Amitabh Bachchan). The film ending leads to the sequel to the Kalki cinematic universe.
