KLIA aerotrain expected to be operational earliest end of this year, says Loke
KUALA LUMPUR: Aerotrain services at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) are scheduled to commence operations by the end of this year and no later than March next year, the Dewan Rakyat was told.
According to Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook, the projected date for commencement of operations was made after taking into account the readiness of appointed contracts from technical and infrastructural aspects related to this matter.
“The aerotrain replacement plan at KLIA commenced on March 14, 2022, with an expectation of full completion by the end of March next year,” said Loke in a parliamentary reply dated March 25.
“It is scheduled to start operations by the end of this year or no later than March next year,” added Loke.
Loke was responding to M. Saravanan (BN-Tapah), who asked for an update over the aerotrain replacement plan at KLIA.
In March last year, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) suspended its aerotrain services at KLIA until further notice following a breakdown that involved 114 passengers.
The aerotrain services had seen several disruptions over the previous years.
