JUNE 28 TORONTO RAPTORS KEEP FREE AGENT Although the San Antonio Spurs probably weren't signing Immanuel Quickley, he's officially off the market. The Toronto Raptors re-signed the former New York Knicks guard for five years, $175 million.
The Spurs will look elsewhere for point guard assistance following such a contract.
JUNE 26 WEMBY REACTS A year ago, San Antonio Spurs selected Victor Wembanyama, with the top pick in the NBA Draft. And this time around? The Atlanta Hawks drafted fellow Frenchman Zaccharie Risacher with the No. 1 pick on Wednesday night. ... and then Washington took Alex Sarr out of France at No. 2.
And then the Hornets picked Tidjane Salaun with the No. 6 pick. And then Pacome Dadiet was drafted by the Knicks with the 25th overall pick, also out of - you guessed it - France.
Wembanyama celebrated a big night for French basketball with a post on social media
What that means? "It's France, brother!''
JUNE 26 KD TO BIG D? The New York Knicks on Tuesday night by engineering a blockbuster trade with the Brooklyn Nets for Mikal Bridges. Then came ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski dropping another news bomb, stating that the Houston Rockets have interest in trading for Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant.
And mixed into this comes a rumor - let's call it unsubstantiated - that the Dallas Mavericks might have some interest in trading for Durant themselves.
That's if you ask "NBA analyst'' Brandon Robinson.
"In addition to the Rockets, Dallas and Chicago also some level of interest in Kevin Durant, I'm hearing," Robinson posted on X.
Valid? We're not sure. An impact on the Spurs if rivals Houston or Dallas pull this off? That, we are sure of.
