Netflix viewers demand 'immediate' Supacell season 2 release as they binge all six episodes in one night
Viewers are hooked on Supacell
Supacell fans are clamouring for a second season of the revolutionary new Netflix sci-fi series, which only premiered on Thursday (June 27).
The six-episode series narrates the tale of five black South Londoners who suddenly acquire superpowers. The project is the brainchild of rapper and filmmaker Rapman, also known as Andrew Onwubolu, and boasts a predominantly black cast and crew.
The Jay-Z endorsed series has been likened to a fusion of gangster series Top Boy and popular superhero show Misfits. Rapman unveiled Supacell in 2020, a year following the release of his crime-thriller film Blue Story.

Supacell features Tosin Cole as Michael Lasaki, a van driver who's completely smitten with life - and his fiancee Dionne. His dream future is abruptly taken away when he realises he can time travel.
He swiftly discovers that Dionne's life is at risk and must locate four others who've also developed superpowers in order to save Dionne's life. This unlikely group of rookie superheroes are trying to understand exactly what their powers entail, and why they possess them, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Supacell addresses several themes including knife crime, racial profiling and sickle cell - a blood disorder affecting around 17,000 people in England. Rapman serves as the show runner, executive producer and director, overseeing episodes one, two and six. Episodes three, four and five are directed by Sebastian Thiel.
Fans of the new series Supacell have taken to social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, to express their desire for more episodes after binge-watching the entire first season in a single night. One viewer described it as 'criminal' that there weren't more episodes available.
@actressatlarge posted: "#Supacell needs a season 2 and 3 immediately. None of that 6 episodes every two years ish promise me more now".
Another fan, @maki_ogunbor, shared: "Think I'm going to rewatch Supacell today. Not even joking, that's how good it is. I need more! " while @CarmaChords praised the show's diverse themes: "Supacell is a sci-fi, thriller, romance and drama all in one with themes of sickle cell awareness, abduction awareness of minorities and so much more. A very smart and well thought out show. Deserves a lot more seasons and I think it will get them."
@illcallyouback0 echoed the sentiment, writing: "I haven't even finished #Supacell and I need more, 6 episodes is criminal" and @victoria_ah0 directly addressed Netflix UK: "@NetflixUK i need that supacell season 2 with speed and efficiency".
As for whether Supacell will be getting a second season, it's too early to tell since the series has only just been released. The decision to renew the show will depend on several factors, including its popularity among viewers.
However, Rapman, the creator of the show, hinted at future seasons in an interview with Radio Times, saying: "For the beginning of the show, I always tell everyone that season one of Supacell to me is like Batman Begins. It's just beginning. You've got to see where it goes next to see who these people really are."
