The South Korean government is ready to find the 'next BTS.' The government recently announced its plans to establish a K Content Cultural Complex with a 5 trillion won policy finance initiative aimed at discovering the 'new BTS' and 'second Parasite.'

SK government to find the 'next BTS?'

The South Korean government recently announced their key strategy to become global content leaders by 2027. This plan includes a plan to help small K-pop label to find the "next BTS." Vice Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Jeon Byung-seok shared, "We will discover the next BTS by supporting the entire musician development cycle for capable small and medium-sized agencies."

Given BTS' undeniable influence, its no surprise that the South Korean government are focused on finding the next K-pop sensation. However, Jeon Byu-seok's remarks drew massive flak. While ARMYs expressed outrage and stated that there can be no 'next BTS,' other K-pop stans viewed the official's comment as an insult to the efforts and achievements of existing groups.

One ARMY said, "Supporting small agencies is good but next what?" Another added, "There will never be a The Next BTS, they’re a once in a lifetime miracle from God," while third tweeted, "As an army since 2014, No. That’s such a big insult to BTS and to any future global K-pop group. That’s like if the US were to try to find 'the next Taylor Swift' or 'the next Beyoncé' like tf???? no! just no!"
