How a Ludhiana man lost over Rs 20 lakh to this ‘Domino's question’ on Google
A resident of Ludhiana has fallen victim to a cyber scam while pursuing his entrepreneurial dream of opening a Domino's franchise. According to an online report a 48-year old Tarsem Singh Gogoani incurred a financial loss of Rs 20.77 lakh to fraudsters who posed as representatives of the popular pizza chain.
What exactly happened Gogoani's ordeal began with a simple online search on Google. Eager to learn the process of opening a Domino's franchise, he looked for information on the internet. However, his search led him to a fraudulent website or landing page designed to mimic the official Domino's franchise portal.
Believing it to be a legitimate Domino’s website, Gogoani submitted his details. This likely triggered a phone call from the fraudsters, who convincingly impersonated Domino's representatives.
The fraudsters promised him a franchise opportunity and lured him into making multiple payments totalling Rs 20.77 lakh. These payments might have been disguised as franchise fees, security deposits, or other fabricated charges.
However, after Gogoani had transferred the significant sum, the so-called Domino's representatives were not reachable. Realising he had been duped, Gogoani filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime police station in Ludhiana.
