Air India Latest Update: Good news for Air India passengers! Tata Group-owned airline has unveiled a three-class configuration on its newly inducted narrowbody aircraft. The airline will offer a new Business, an all-new Premium Economy, and a new Economy cabin experience on domestic, and a few international routes soon. The airline has planned to introduce the three-class configuration to its entire full-service narrowbody fleet over the next year.

Air India has refitted two new A320neo aircraft – VT-RTW and VT-RTZ – in a three-class configuration. It will now feature eight luxurious seats in Business, 24 extra legroom seats in Premium Economy, and 132 comfortable seats in Economy. This will offer a wider choice for the passengers to book according to their choices.

With this, the country's leading global airline has also introduced Premium Economy cabins for the first time on narrowbody aircraft. In a statement, the airline said, "Guests can fly Premium Economy from 01 July on select domestic routes."

Air India's A320neo aircraft: Feature

Air India’s latest move will enhance the inflight experience of today’s discerning flyers. In all three cabins of the aircraft, the passengers will get the experience of cabin mood lighting, spacious legroom, and wider pitch. The aircraft will also be equipped with various modern features such as portable electronic device (PED) holders, and USB ports to charge mobile phones, laptops, and other gadgets.

Commenting on the development, Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, Air India, said that the upgrade of the narrowbody fleet, which operates on domestic and short-haul international networks, complements the upgraded widebody experience now available on our A350 fleet and new B777s, and on all other widebodies as they are refitted over the next two years.

“This comprehensive upgradation of Air India’s physical product is an important component of transforming into a world-class airline,” Wilson said.

A320neo aircraft: Business Cabins

A320neo aircraft's new Business cabins will offer -rich 40-inch ergonomic seats with a deep 7-inch recline, an adjustable armrest, footrest and backrest, a tray table deployed at the push of a button that includes a PED holder and is extendable, and multiple charging ports.

A320neo aircraft: Premium Economy Cabins

The new Premium Economy cabins will feature larger seats with superior upholstery, a four-way headrest, a wider 32-inch seat pitch with a 4-inch recline, and other amenities such as a PED holder and USB charging port.

A320neo aircraft: Economy Cabins

The new Economy Cabins will have a 28-29-inch seat pitch, 4-inch recline, and legroom and come with features such as a PED holder, tray table, USB charging port, and a coat hook.
