2024 GWM Haval Jolion price and specs: Prices cut, hybrid gets new look
There’s a new GWM Haval Jolion Hybrid now arriving in dealers, but the petrol model will look very familiar.
Confusingly, GWM has taken the Chitu/Red Rabbit – a close relation to the existing Jolion, which it entered production during the same year as – and is introducing it to various global markets such as ours.
But the new-look SUV is coming here only as a hybrid, taking the place of the ‘old shape’ Jolion Hybrid models.
Not only does it have a fresh look (for Australia), the new Jolion Hybrid also brings multi-link independent rear suspension, previously exclusive to the sporty Jolion S.
The sportier styling does result in reduced boot space however, which shrinks from 337L to 255L.

Those who prefer the old-look car will still be able to get it, albeit only with petrol power. Regardless of exterior appearance, all models share the same overall interior design.
Prices have been reduced for petrol models by between $1000 and $1500, while hybrid models are up to $2000 cheaper than the models they replace.
While the petrol models don’t get the new exterior, they do get some visual tweaks including a revised grille and bumpers.
The steering wheel now has four-way adjustment, replacing the two-way adjustment of the pre-update model.
Petrol-powered Ultra and S models are dead, as is the turbo 1.6-litre four used in the latter, with the old shape limited to lower-spec Premium and Lux trim levels

However, there’s a new Premium Hybrid, lowering the cost of entry into a hybrid Jolion.
Whether this abates confusion or causes more, GWM will market the new-look hybrid models as the Jolion Hybrid and not as the Jolion Pro – despite that name appearing on the tailgate.
“The rear of the vehicle carries Jolion Pro badging (consistent with global naming) but for simplicity of communication and to continue reinforcement of the Jolion nomenclature, this model will be marketed and sold as GWM Jolion Hybrid in the ANZ region,” the company says.
GWM is continuing its ‘Masterbrand’ strategy, and has put a prominent GWM wordmark on the tailgate as it de-emphasises the Haval name that’s now technically a sub-brand in Australia.
