Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta tipped to replace Pep Guardiola at Man City for three reasons
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta would be the ideal candidate to replace Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, according to Danny Mills.
The Catalan coach heads into the final year of his contract with the Citizens having won a sixth Premier League title and fourth in a row in 2023/24. Guardiola has already admitted he is nearer the end of his time at the Etihad Stadium.
The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona boss has won everything with Man City and is set for discussions with the club's hierarchy next term. The 53-year-old Spaniard has been tipped to depart in 12 months, having already been with the club for eight years.
City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak says the club will find 'the right solution' for their manager. Should Guardiola depart the Premier League champions, it will be a lofty task to replace him.
Ex-Man City and Leeds full-back Mills believes that Arteta would be the best successor for three reasons. Speaking to BetVictor, Mills said: "Mikel Arteta is the best man to replace Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, without a shadow of a doubt. He's worked with Pep, he knows the way City play and he can come in with the same level of intensity as him.
"We know how intense Pep is and the pressure he puts on himself and his team to be the best every single day. Pep gets burnt out and you can understand why.

"I think it will be a concern. It's like trying to replace Jurgen Klopp, Arsene Wenger or Sir Alex Ferguson. Those coaches have been so successful because they are so unique. It's almost impossible to replicate that style of play and intensity.
"The way City play, the style, everything is down to Pep. And if you look at what happened to Barcelona after he left, those players started to leave the football club and they were never the same.
"The hierarchy at City have to be looking for a successor now and I'm sure they are. There are lots of coaches winning in the City Group for instance.
"It's a concern for City but when you look at what they've done in the past, the senior figures they've brought in to manage the academy and recruitment, you have to put faith in them and hope that there is a good succession plan."
