Gurdwara Hemkund Sahib pilgrimage commences from Rishikesh, portals to open on May 25
While the portals of Gurdwara Hemkund Sahib will open on May 25, the pilgrimage officially commenced from Rishikesh on Wednesday as devotees set off for the shrine in Chamoli.
Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (retired) flagged off the first batch of pilgrims, led by the Panj Piare (five beloved ones).
On the occasion, the Gurudwara complex and the Darbar Hall were adorned with flowers, enhancing the beauty and grandeur of the gurdwara.
In a statement, the gurdwara said that devotees began gathering in the complex early in the morning. Before setting off, a Gurbani Kirtan was performed by the congregation and Gurmat Sangeet Bal Vidyalaya students in the Darbar Hall. A langar was also organised.
