Good morning viewers, Hello and welcome to the Morning News Show where we bring you the latest headlines and insightful stories to kick start your day. I am Kavina Sharma and you are watching CNN News 18. First up on top of this bulletin, we are tracking some latest inputs on the OBC faceoff. We are in a massive set back to the Mamta government in West Bengal. The Calcutta High Court has now cancelled all the OBC certificates issued by the state government between 2011 and 2024. Now, the court has directed that a fresh list of Obcs will be prepared based on the West Bengal Commission for Backward Classes Act of 1993 now. The employment provided on the basis of all certificates will, however, continue to remain valid. Now, Calcutta High Court's order has led to the cancellation of over 5,00,000 OBC certificates. Reacting to the High Court order, W Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee has also alleged that this is BJPS conspiracy and has decided to move the apex code now. PM Modi is also reacted to the High Court statement and said that the verdict is a slap on India Block and TMC for engaging in appeasement politics. Now several other leaders of the BJP have also taken a dig at Mamta, calling it a set back for amusement politics. Kolkata High Courtney is India alliance code Ek bahad baraat tama chamara hai kotne to hazar das ke baat SE jari sare OBC certificate cancel kardiya kya kya kya Ki paschim mangal Ki sarkarne musalmano ka vote bank kellye anaap sanab musala mano ko obisi banane ke certificate Devi yeh board Wen Ki rajniti yeh tushri kanan Ki rajniti yeh tushri kanan Ki sanak har har Parker I kiss prakar Ki mansikta SE bangal ka lukhtantra gujar mais Ki ghoninda karta ho or High Court ke fest like a swagat karta ho or how many sheet soon is sheet karenge High Court ke fest like Amal ho or jinta dikar hai? Jo pitch re loge pitcher worki loge mile naki appeasement Ki policy or what Bank policy Karan Jo pitcher nahi mamta Banerjee Supreme State Uniform Civil Code. What led you actually, you know, file this case and when if you can tell the background. The thing is that we, our NGO is a human rights organization. Akhmadi is a human rights organization and our tagline is operation of no one, appeasement of no one. So that's why when we came to know about this particular act, which was passed in 2012, it was in the public domain. Throughout that period, everybody criticized the that act, that discrimination on the basis of religious identity, but nobody really took the initiative to watch that thing. So, we thought we should take some initiative. So we approach the code through a PIL public international integration in 2020. In the October 2020, we filed the case and later we found there are some other petition as well. But those petitions were not in the appellate side. Those were in the original side of the Kolkata High Court. So there are three other petitions as well. So we filed as a on the appellate side asking the court to Causeway the particular act that is West Bengal Schedule, other backward classes other than Scheduled Cast or Scheduled Drive Act. So we believe that any reservation be it for the Obcs should be on the basis of their financial or economic condition, not on the basis of religious and identity. But here in this particular case, what we saw, the reservation has been made on the basis of their titles or that is religious identity. If you go through the chart you can find that almost 98%.
