Shah Rukh Khan's home banner Red Chillies Entertainment has made a net profit of Rs 85 crore for the fiscal year 2022-2023, which ended in March 31, 2023. It is yet to reveal the earnings for the fiscal year through March 2024.
Red Chillies indulges into film production and distribution, along with OTT content and VFX production. While SRK holds a share of 50 per cent, his wife Gauri Khan owns 49.9 per cent. As per the report, Red Chillies' listing of unreleased films and unsold film rights stood at Rs 367 crore. This includes Rs 357 crore for web series and under production films, and Rs 9.6 crore for movie rights.
The latest report claims that SRK led company saw a surge in its revenue 2.3 times in the previous financial year. This means a rise from Rs 130 crore to Rs 300 crore, as per Red Chillies' latest regulatory filings shown by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. The company had a loss of Rs 22 crore in FY22.
Red Chillies Entertainment was established from the defunct Dreamz Unlimited, previously owned by Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla and Aziz Mirza. Established by Khan and wife Gauri in 2002, Red Chillies started as a film production, distribution and visual effects company. It also has a stake of 55 per cent in the Indian Premier League cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders (2008).
Kicking off with its first production Main Hoon Na in 2004, Red Chillies Entertainment has over the years, backed dozens of movies like Om Shanti Om, My Name Is Khan, Student of the Year, Chennai Express, Happy New Year, Dear Zindagi, Raees, Badla, Jawan, Dunki and more.
Its Ra.One continues to be called a landmark film to have brought world class visual effects and technology onto the Indian celluloid. It eventually fanned of VFX heavy films like Don, Zero, Fan, Drona, Krrish 3, Phillauri, Jagga Jasoos, Tumbbad, Saaho, Mission Mangal, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, Roohi, RRR, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Ponniyin Selvan and others.
With films like Darlings, co-produced with Alia Bhatt, and Love Hostel, starring Vikram Massey, Sanya Malhotra and Bobby Deol, Red Chillies entered the OTT space, directly premiering films on the digital platform due to the third wave of Covid-19. It further ventured into OTT production with projects like Class of 83 and Bard of Blood.
As of today, Shah Rukh Khan is the founder and Managing Director of Red Chillies Entertainment, and Gauri Khan is its co-founder, Joint-MD, and producer. Venky Mysore, the CEO of Kolkata Knight Riders took up the additional position of Chief Executive Officer.
