While police officers have faced massive criticisms from Kenyans after extorting force in the anti-Finance Bill 2024 protests on Tuesday, June 25, a few policemen have shown kindness to civilians.

One police officer has been filmed showing kindness to a hopeless woman at Khoja Stage in Nairobi city.

Mild protests occurred during the day on Thursday, June 27, but normalcy was slowly creeping in despite the chaotic atmosphere.

A woman was passing through the stage when one officer commanded her to walk faster and leave the precinct.

The lady faintly said she was teargassed, and her situation touched one armed police officer who decided to help her.

Why did Kenyans criticise police officer?

He called her back and led her to a shade, giving the woman some water to wash her face before she proceeded with her journey.

The officer implored her to leave and go home as they continued to ensure safety in the metropolitan city.

Several social media users, however, did not buy the good deed by the officer as they criticised him.

Most said he was not genuine, while others said he was helping the woman so that he could earn praise from Kenyans.

Why did police officer resign?

Separately, a plain-clothed police officer mourned the loss of his brother, who was fatally shot during protests over the Finance Bill.

The officer was seen crying inconsolably as he pledged to resign and return his police uniform in response to the incident.

Efforts to console the officer were unsuccessful as he continued to scream in anguish, pleading with the police also to kill him.
