Raila to Ruto: Kenyans who stormed Parliament are not mad listen to them

• The ODM Chief noted that the country is in a bad and delicate place and anybody who is not aware of it is not wise.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga has questioned President William Ruto's advisers following the Finance Bill protests that saw youths access Parliament on Tuesday.

He claimed that, the speech by President Ruto on Tuesday evening was written by the wrong advisers.

The ODM Chief noted that the country is in a bad and delicate place and anybody who is not aware of it is not wise.

“This will not stop if you don't come out and talk strongly," Raila said further stating that if the President is not careful the worse may happen.

He noted that the number of young people who stormed Parliament recently should be an eye-opener because those people were not mad.

“They are not mad, you must think twice why they were all out," he said.

“That was the biggest vote of no confidence in the Parliament of Kenya. The people have said they don’t have faith in it.”

Raila added that with the happenings, the President must focus on what is happening now and put the MPs aside so that people can talk.

The ODM chief also brought up the issue of the Nadco report saying some of the issues the young people were raising were anchored in the report which is yet to be implemented.

“All those things that made the young people protests are all within the report which is yet to be implemented they have been ignoring its implementation apart from the IEBC bit that has so far been handled," he said.

He was speaking during the burial of Elder Owino Nyadi in the Ugunja constituency of Siaya County on Saturday.

Minority Leader in the National Assembly Opiyo Wandayi echoed Raila’s sentiments saying President Ruto should implement the Nadco report before another set of dialogue is carried out in the country.

Wandayi said the starting point for another round of dialogue or conversation, should come after fast-tracking implementation of the Nadco report.

The Minority Leader noted that it was unfortunate that almost seven months after the Nadco team concluded its report, it was yet to be implemented to date.

“Out of the nine Bills crafted by the Nadco team the IEBC amendment Bill is the only one that has been implemented based on my knowledge, the eight others are in limbo," he said.
